Heh. Two big signs that the Left is getting really worried about the 9/12 March scheduled for tomorrow.
First, a (phony) bomb threat was called in to the FreedomWorks offices this afternoon:
On the eve of what organizers call a ‘Big Ol’ TEA Party’, the Washington, D.C., offices of FreedomWorks were evacuated by DC Metro police on Friday afternoon after the conservative organization reported to authorities at 3:42 pm ET that it had received a bomb threat.
At 4:48 pm ET, the organization put out a Twitter message saying that it turned out to be a false alarm but the organization is not happy about the disruption.
Tens of thousands of anti-big government activists are expected in Washington on Saturday as part of a “March on Washington” being organized by FreedomWorks, a conservative group headed by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas.
Sandra and I were at the FreedomWorks offices this evening for a before-the-March reception (I was invited because I’m one of the speakers tomorrow). The FreedomWorks people were mostly amused.
Second, the Democrats — after weeks of ignoring or downplaying this protest — are trying to falsely inflate expectations for the march turnout in order to make it look like a failure:
A top aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi warned fellow Democrats in a memo obtained by FOXNews.com that up to 2 million people may attend. But conservatives believe Democrats are playing an expectations game to claim the event was a failure.
Democrats are sounding the alarms over the potential turnout at a planned protest in the nation’s capital Saturday by opponents of President Obama’s domestic policies, but protest organizers say the Democrats’ numbers don’t add up.
Two million? What are they smoking? (Probably the same thing as Andrew Sullivan.) FreedomWorks all along has been estimating 25,000 (go check the web archives at the Internet Wayback Machine). Frankly, if we get 50,000, we’ll be thrilled and surprised.
Should be fun tomorrow! ..bruce w..
